The Acosta Institute is excited to launch the Healing-Centered Education Curriculum Innovation Challenge!

In response to the rapidly changing world and landscape of education, we invite educators, researchers, and consultants from various educational sectors to participate in this transformative initiative. This challenge aims to foster creativity and innovation in developing lesson plans, syllabi, assignments, assessments, and other educational materials that are grounded in healing-centered practices.

Objective:

Our goal is to create a comprehensive repository of educational resources that promote holistic growth, healing, and transformation. By integrating healing-centered approaches into education, we aim to cultivate resilient, adaptable, empathetic communities and foster lifelong learning.

Who Can Participate:

  • K-12 Educators: Inspire young minds and create nurturing learning environments that support students' emotional and academic growth.
  • Higher Education Faculty and Researchers: Develop innovative curricula that address the unique needs of college and university students and researchers.
  • Education Consultants: Share your expertise in adult education and professional development, contributing to the growth and well-being of professionals across various industries.

Submission Categories:

Participants can submit entries in the following categories:

  1. Lesson Plans: Craft engaging and healing-centered lesson plans for K-12 or higher education settings.
  2. Syllabi: Design comprehensive syllabi that incorporate healing-centered principles for courses or professional development programs.
  3. Assignments: Create meaningful assignments that promote critical reflection and growth.
  4. Assessments: Develop innovative assessment tools that are asset-driven and not only measure academic success.
  5. Conceptual Frameworks: Submit a theory or model that explains a relevant approach.
  6. Professional Development Activity: Submit an example of workshop, practice or activity that supports adult learning for teachers, leaders and community members within your context.

Evaluation Criteria:

Submissions will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Impact: The potential to create meaningful change in educational settings and promote healing and growth.
  • Innovation: The originality and creativity of the approach.
  • Alignment: How well the submission aligns with principles of healing-centered education.

Prize and Recognition:

Winners will receive recognition and awards, including:

  • Monetary Prize: A cash award of $500 for the top submissions.
  • International Recognition: Winners will be published on the Acosta Institute’s website and celebrated across the organization’s international network
